The Biography of a TRUE artist.

True Delorenzo

With over 3000 paintings completed since 2000, the artist true delorenzo has only has just begun. His portfolio is a prolific, passionate display of work that translates today’s American ideology.

True is the traditional bohemian artist that we all love to eat up. He is underground, undiscovered, under-rated, and indefinable. He doesn't limit himself to whom and where he shows his work. He can pack a full house at the most trendy of galleries or cobble squat on a corner street using guerrilla style marketing. Allowing the rich and poor masses to obtain his art is important to the artist. Many of these lessons were learned growing up in an artistic hippie family. Although True was born in California in 1973, he spent most of his life travelling to places like Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Hungary, France, England, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Korea, Brazil, and Japan. During these travels is where he learned his skills for computer graphics and love for art.

It was True’s last visit to Italy in 2002 where he was inspired by the exhibition from the New York Museum of Modern Art. At that event, True became spiritually connected to the American-New York School of artwork on display. True was also influenced by Paul Gauguin, who died on his birthday, and Pablo Picasso. Once being introduced to these avant-garde painters, True made the commitment to dedicate his life to fine art.

This last visit also lead True to his unique style, a phrase coined "post 9-11 abstract expressionism," which combines elements of surrealism, pop art, cubism, and 1950's abstract expressionism. His art often encompasses a nonrepresentational style influenced by psychological theories and the unconscious by the use of formal distortion, bold and often un-naturalistic use of color, and slashing brushwork.

True’s emotional oil and acrylic gestures are meant to convey 'true' reality of modern life after the turn of the 21st century and the intense force of the Now Generation.

True’s expansive collection and motivated art career is one to watch for in the near future.
